INFLUENCERIADA - TV Show for FAME MMA
From Concept to Show Time
We had about two weeks to make it happen. Within that time, I developed the entire control system from scratch, tested it in a studio environment, and prepared all visual materials — questions, animations, and video assets. The goal was simple: make sure the host, contestants, and the production team could operate in perfect sync — just like a fully live broadcast.
The System Behind the Show
The system was built around vMix, which served as the central hub for both video and logic control. From my custom application, vMix sent signals to LED displays, player totems, and the grandMA lighting console. All communication between systems was handled through Telnet, OSC, and RossTalk, fully integrated with the vMix API. I implemented a round and score backup system, allowing quick recovery or bonus point adjustments when needed. The operator (acting as the game referee) had a dedicated control panel — with buttons for confirming answers, triggering sound effects, animations, and LED visuals in real time.
The Visual Layer
Each contestant had a totem showing their name, score, and event-themed background graphics. The main panoramic LED screen displayed questions, visuals, and video inserts. All motion graphics were created in After Effects and implemented inside vMix. Audio effects were played via a sound interface connected to the operator’s system — perfectly synced with scoring or countdown triggers. Everything ran completely live. The host used a tablet showing the current question, answers, and the correct one, along with quick buttons to start a 5- or 10-second answer timer, instantly synced across all systems.
Live Production Integration
The system integrated with Resolume, sending video feeds over SDI / NDI, and triggered grandMA3 lighting effects via OSC and Telnet. It operated within a full-scale live production environment — including stage management, video, audio, and lighting engineers, and a TV-style control room. My system was at the core of the show — driving timing, visuals, and transitions throughout each round.
Challenges and Solutions
The biggest challenge was preparing custom question types that included dynamic video or image-based content. Thanks to thorough testing and workflow checks, we avoided any issues during recording. One of the more unique tricks I implemented was vMix control via Ross Dashboard, allowing flexible management and automation of the entire show logic.
The Outcome
The audience loved it — and the production team was thrilled with how smoothly everything worked. The system proved stable, responsive, and intuitive — allowing the host to run the entire show seamlessly without “reading from cards.” INFLUENCERIADA quickly became one of the most dynamic live quiz formats under the FAME brand. The first live taping was completed in a single evening. Since then, we’ve produced five full editions of the show, with more already in the pipeline — including an even more advanced version of the system.
“ Watching influencers struggle with the simplest questions was pure entertainment. You can tell the production nailed the balance between fun and tension. It feels spontaneous, energetic, and surprisingly addictive. ”
Lessons and Takeaways
This project allowed me to explore new possibilities in broadcast system integration, especially in real-time communication via OSC, Telnet, and RossTalk. The feedback gathered from the production team directly shaped the upcoming next-generation version of the system. There’s always something to improve — but the satisfaction of seeing everything work exactly as planned is unbeatable.
